Volkswagen "VW" Catalytic Converters
First we will talk about the history of Volkswagen cars followed by a description of VW catalytic converters and any new technologies related to catalytic converters.
Europe’s largest automobile manufacturer, the German automaker Volkswagen (in English “people’s car”) has consistently been a leading international car maker. Founded in 1937, as an opposition to the heavy luxury car market in Germany, VW made cars for the average person. Volkswagen entered the American market in 1955 with its popular Beetle “Bug” model. Through reliable cars and an effective ad campaign VW has grown into the renowned brand it is today.
Volkswagen has become a leading manufacturer of small diesel engine cars. Starting in the late 90’s VW offered their Turbocharged Direct Injection engines in several of their passenger models. Diesel engines are most efficient engines, allowing them to travel more miles per gallon. Due to the efficiency of the diesel engine and advancements in filters, and catalytic converters, these diesel fueled cars can be as clean as regular gas powered cars. Volkswagen is looking to increase their diesel market in the U.S. which is a potentially growing market as noted in this article from UPI.com.
